In the early management of a cerebrovascular accident (CVA), also known as a stroke, absolute bed rest is recommended to ensure that the patient remains stable and to reduce the risk of further complications. This period is critical for the patient’s recovery, as it allows the healthcare team to monitor neurological status, manage vital signs, and implement necessary interventions without the added stress that movement might cause.

During this early phase, the body is under significant strain due to the stroke, and minimizing movement helps prevent additional injuries, such as falls or worsening of the patient's condition.
